Bring AP Computer Science Principles to your school and offer students a Math or Science credit with an accessible AP course. Using Code.org’s open source (FREE!!!) curriculum provides teachers support with daily lesson plans, activities, activity guides, assessments, rubrics, and a constantly moderated forum that welcomes and encourages teachers to share questions and ideas. Participate in a live demonstration of the curriculum to get a feel for how you will use the resources in your class. Information will be provided about a five day summer workshop with quarterly follow ups throughout the year that supports teachers as they implement the curriculum.
During part 1 we will model unit 1 lesson 9 in which students play battleship to build an understanding of the need for addressing in the internet.
In part 2 we will give an AP CSP "crash course", an overview of Code.org's cyber security activities on encryption, and a demo of App Lab. Participants will get to customize an app!
The two sessions can be attended individually, part 1 is not needed to participate during part 2.
Please bring a device to each session if possible.
