Over 500 US schools were hit by ransomware in 2019 -  A ransomware attack usually begins with a hacker or cybercriminal gaining unauthorized access to a school network or a specific computer.  With ever-evolving threats, ransomware may not ever be completely preventable.  However, it's effects can be greatly reduced when the proper steps are taken in advance.  In this session we'll talk about those steps you can take to protect your critical data without responding to a criminal's demand(s).  We'll discuss how a holistic strategy will help defend your environment with topics such as the CIS' critical security controls, GAP analysis and using a Cloud Service Provider for proper implementation of air-gapped backups.
