The CyberSecurity Risks Facing Schools: What Administrators Need to Know

As schools have increased their reliance on technology for teaching, learning, assessment, and school operations, so too have they increased their exposure to cybersecurity risks. Based on data about publicly-disclosed school cybersecurity incidents since 2016 on the K-12 Cyber Incident Map, this presentation will help administrators understand why schools are at-risk, what the most common cybersecurity issues schools experience are, and how school leaders can best respond to this emerging issue. IT experts have an important role to play, but ultimately K-12 cybersecurity risk management is the job of leadership.
