Shana is a veteran educator who begins her fifteenth year in education, serving in both public and private schools as a health/physical education teacher in metro Atlanta during her career. She has also served as an instructional technology coordinator for two years in Gwinnett County Public Schools and was Research Associate in the Constellations Center for Equity in Computing at Georgia Tech. Shana is currently teaching in a middle school in metro Atlanta. Shana is a passionate educator who works as an advocate for marginalized groups in education and has an unwavering commitment to providing opportunities for all students to engage in unique and relevant learning experiences. She believes in purposeful disruption of the status quo and encourages teachers to exercise autonomy and utilize meaningful collaboration to better meet the needs of all students. She has received accolades for her teaching and work in Edtech, most recently being named 2019 Georgia Tech Diversity and Inclusion Fellow, 2019 CSTA Equity Fellow, 2017 Outstanding Ed.S Scholar in the Bagwell College of Education at Kennesaw State University for Instructional Technology, ASCD 2017 Emerging Leader, and 2016 PBS Lead Digital Innovator for Georgia.
